Star Pirates Code is the latest release from Pragmatic Play and content partner Reel Kingdom. On first impression you may be a little confused as to the title as it’s not technically a pirate-themed slot, nevertheless, it’s superbly designed with cartoon-style graphics and gemstones and coin symbols on the reels.
About Star Pirates Code
In terms of gameplay Star Pirates Code is straightforward with 5 reels and only 10 paylines. It’s available on desktop and mobile devices from as little as 10p up to £50 per spin. RTP can be one of three levels depending on the operator’s choice, the max is 96.744x, and the other two are 95.64% and 94.61%.The reel set dominates the game area so there’s not much to see in terms of the background apart from a calm sea at night and two lanterns sitting on either side of the reels. The reels sit inside a wooden structure with a red background, an assortment of brightly coloured gems and gold and silver coins are the only symbols present apart from the skull wild, and a compass symbol, I’ll explain its prevalence later.
Gameplay
The Skull wild can only land on the middle three reels and when it does it substitutes regular symbols to help with wins. The Wild Compass symbol only lands on reels 2-4 and if it does it also substitutes but also once landed the needle spins and depending on where it lands wilds are placed on the reels. This could either be horizontal, diagonally, or vertically. Once the wilds are added a respin is given and all the wilds lock on the reels. More respins are awarded if more compass symbols land on a spin. If new wilds land on previously locked wilds a 1x multiplier is applied to those positions.
Verdict
Although on paper the game consists of only wilds and respins, Star Pirates Code is an enjoyable game with plenty of opportunities to collect decent prizes. However, the graphics are a little outdated compared to many recently released slots from Pragmatic, nevertheless, it’s an interesting game with enough to keep players entertained.
