With just over a month to go until the reduction of maximum stakes on Fixed Odds Betting Terminals (FOBT’s) is enforced, bookmakers up and down the country are pushing the betting terminals in betting shops as hard as possible before the massive drop in the maximum stake drops from £100 to a mere £2.
Redundancies
As reported, since the decision had been made to slash the odds so drastically, bookmakers are filled with doom as they announced redundancies within their betting shops is imminent once the stakes are reduced on the 1st April 2019.The only players that will be interested in FOBT’s once the new rules come in to play are the odd player that wants to play slot machines. It’s hard to believe that the players that once placed larger bets on Roulette will be bothered with such low maximum stakes.

Bookmakers who have online casinos are pushing as hard as possible to get their players online and via their mobile apps, where restrictions to maximum bets are not affected, the problem with this is players that frequent bookies enjoy the experience, you just don’t get that playing online.It remains to be seen whether there will be a shift in players moving to online play, at the moment it seems like their only option if they want to place much higher stakes.
