Casinos in England and Scotland Due to Reopen Monday 17th May

It’s been a long time coming but finally, after Monday’s press briefing UK’s PM Boris Johnson announced the next step of the roadmap of opening up indoor entertainment attractions and this includes casinos and bingo halls.

Reopening 17th May 2021

Along with Boris Johnson’s announcement, Scottish Minister Nicola Sturgeon also confirmed on May 17th, the next phase of reopening businesses in hospitality and entertainment attractions such as cinemas, concert hall, theatres, bowling alleys, amusement arcades, and of course bingo halls and casinos. The PM also announced up to six people may socialise in one household and the number of people in outdoor gatherings up to 30. Travel restrictions will also ease, and people are now able to plan overnight stays.Johnson said he’s confident the roadmap back to ‘normality’ is on the right track and has confidence that the UK is on track for the next phase of reopening on June 21st.

Travel Restrictions Lifted in Scotland

Sturgeon announced travel restrictions in Scotland would be lifted on May 17th and people are allowed to travel freely within Scotland and the UK. Weddings and funerals can be attended by up to 50 people. However, Moray will remain in Level 3 after Sturgeon announced a surge in cases and hospital administrations.Sturgeon said the ‘huge success’ of the vaccination programme along with compliance over restrictions had played a huge role in figures continually falling in Scotland.I think it’s safe to say, the reopening of casinos and bingo halls comes as a huge relief to the industry after a dire year. Casinos and bingo halls have suffered badly during the pandemic after remaining closed for the best part of a year. Hopefully, after the 17th of May business will resume and the road to recovery can begin.
