Cake Poker Network

The online casino industry is a tough one to crack, and of the individual cogs that make the iGaming world work, poker is one of the most competitive.

That’s what makes it so impressive that the Cake Poker Network (CKPN) has made such a huge name for itself in this industry, growing from its inception in 2004 to one of the most powerful names in online poker at this point.

CKPN was created by a group of diehard poker fans who were looking for a greater experience than that which was offered at the time, and they made it with style, causing numerous poker sites to swiftly jump on board and become part of the network.

The Second Wave

From the outset, CKPN had a lot of interest from sites, and the wave of sites that joined up quickly was impressive, but then, in late 2008, Microgaming dropped out of the US iGaming market, upsetting many of their partners, who were then in the market for an alternative, and CKPN was the alternative that most of them chose.

What’s So Different?

Many may assume that poker is a pretty simple concept, and shy of the graphics on some games being better than others, there’s little to tell most poker titles apart, but CKPN looks to change that assumption, and cater for the hardcore poker fan who knows how many subtle intricacies and nuances there can be between different games.

CKPN provides numerous games and tournaments, as well as their popular Gold Cards and Gold Chips promotional campaigns.

When CKPN released Cake 2.0, their new and improved poker platform designed with the feedback of players and clients in mind, they secured their position as one of the biggest and best names in online poker, and one which looks set to continue with the massive success it’s enjoyed so far.

He has seen the market move from desktop Flash slots to mobile-first HTML5, lived through every iteration of UK Gambling Commission rules, and built the systems that keep our coverage compliant as regulation evolves. He has a particular interest in responsible gambling tooling and player-fund safety — the parts of the industry most people do not see but that matter most.

Matt is a Companies House registered director (Take Marketing Limited, company no. 07619813) and is based in Lincolnshire, England.
