The aquatic trio takes centre stage in Red Tiger’s latest 5×3 slot, which features 20 fixed paylines. There’s a series of interconnected features that become even more interesting when more than one pufferfish is involved. Three Puffer Fish Cause a Stir Beneath the Waves
Wild symbols are responsible for setting the three characters into action. Wild symbols substitute for regular paying symbols and send bubbles towards one or more randomly selected Puffer Fish. The bubbles can trigger the characters’ features for the current spin or trigger Free Spins with the corresponding features active.
The green puffer fish introduces a multiplier of 2x, 3x, or 5x that applies to winning combos containing the affected Wild. When two or more multiplier Wilds contribute to the same winning combination, their values are added together.
Red puffer has a different trick up his sleeve. He clones the Wild until it occupies an entire reel. If the Green Puffer feature triggers at the same time, the multiplier is applied before the symbol expands, meaning every copy retains the same value.
Yellow takes the action in another direction, leaving frames behind whenever its feature activates. The frames transform into pearls at the end of the base spin, revealing random cash awards or one of four fixed bonus prizes.
The number of frames increases when Yellow interacts with a multiplier Wild. A 5x multiplier, for example, creates five frames, with one remaining in the Wild’s original position and the others appearing randomly across the reels.
Frames can accumulate up to three times on the same position, progressing from White to Blue and eventually Gold. White Pearls are worth 0.5x the stake, Blue Pearls 50x (minor) and Gold Pearls 2,500x (grand).
The remaining fixed prizes are the Mini at 15x and Major at 500x the stake.
Free Spins create more Mischief
The Free Spins begin with 10 spins and at least one Puffer Fish feature active, although multiple features can be available from the outset. Each Wild that lands receive all active features.
Yellow’s feature behaves differently during the Free Spins. The Frames remain on the reels rather than transforming into pearls. As more frames appear, they accumulate and upgrade from White to Blue and eventually Gold.
When a Wild lands on a Golden frame, any new frames it creates are placed on positions that have not yet reached Gold. If the entire grid is covered in Golden frames, each additional frame that cannot be placed awards a 10x prize.
At the end of the bonus, all accumulated frames transform into pearls, revealing their respective cash and bonus prizes.
Power Puff Adds More Opportunities During Free Spins
A school of fish can randomly swim across the reels during the base game, guaranteeing that any Wilds landing on that spin trigger the Free Spins.
