Powered by Barcrest Games, Monopoly Big Event is a five reel video slot with 20 paylines. The game is playable from 20p to £500 per spin.ThemeAs you’d expect from a Monopoly themed slot, the symbols here are the silver coloured playing markers from the board game. These include the cat, car, ship and dog. The lower value symbols take the form of traditional letter symbols and mascot Rich Uncle Pennybags also makes an appearance. The design is reminiscent of an old-school land casino with deep red, gold and green hues.

Big Event Feature

This feature is activated when you land three Big Event symbols on reels one, three and five. If you get two stacked symbols on reel five then you’ll be taken to the House sneak preview version and three stacked symbols gives you access to the Hotel sneak preview. The House sneak preview reveals the locations of the chance cards for the three House cards while the Hotel sneak preview lets you know where the chance cards are for the three Hotels. You’ll then take turns picking community chest and chance cards. Community chest cards reveal a number of free spins and guaranteed wins. Chance cards are turned over to reveal bonus icons. Revealing three of the same icon will trigger the appropriate bonus feature with the number of free spins and guaranteed wins accumulated up till then.

Locking Wilds

This is a free spins bonus round where any wilds landed during the feature will stay there for the duration. As an added touch, getting the In Jail symbol anywhere on the reels will remove the lowest valued symbol from all following free spins. If you’ve already removed the 10 symbol then the next time you land In Jail the J will be removed and so on.

Dancing Wild

In this bonus round one reel is chosen randomly to become fully wild for each free spin. Again, the In Jail symbol will remove the current lowest valued symbol for the rest of the feature.

Guaranteed Wins

Guaranteed Wins show the minimum number of wins available during a particular bonus round. This is measured on a meter, which goes down with every winning spin. If you have not reached the minimum number of wins by the end of the free spins then these will be played on a separate reel set.

Big Bet Feature

You have the option of choosing one of the Big Bet games by clicking on the big purple button on the side of the reels. This offers two options: a £20 game and a £30 game. The £20 game features a progressive multiplier. You have five spins and each spin increases the multiplier by one so your first spin has a 1x multiplier and your fifth spin has a 5x multiplier. The £30 game features a spinning wheel. Where this lands determines what bonus you’ll get between a progressive multiplier, a 5x multiplier and a persisting wild, where the Big Event logo is wild and stays sticky for the remaining spins.

Verdict

Monopoly Big Event is a very well thought through game with plenty to offer. It may seem like there’s a lot to take in but game play is actually relatively simple. Barcrest Games have taken the Monopoly theme and created an interesting slot with plenty of entertainment value.
