There’s another contender in the ring in the Thundershot series from Playtech. Dragon’s Hall Thundershots was released in July 2021 with the action taking place in the far east. It has an RTP of 95.35%, a bonus wheel, free spins, random multipliers, free spins, scatters, wilds and synchronising reels. Bets start at 10p and rise to £50 per spin and it’s available to play on tablets, mobiles and desktop devices. Volatility is on the high side and like with most Playtech releases, visually, it’s very impressive.
Dragon’s Hall Thundershots Design
Firstly, the graphics are exceptional; crisp and clear. Behind the 5×3 reels are traditional Chinese buildings and mountains bathed in a green light. The reels are surrounded by red columns with gold details round them and have a red background. The symbols are J to A Royals as the lower values, then koi fish, Buddhas, lotuses, coins. a Yin Yang and the game logo. You also have a wild symbol and a dragon scatter.
Gameplay and Features
The first thing to mention is that symbols don’t have to be adjacent to form wins, they can land anywhere on the paylines. When a wild lands, it will come with a random multiplier from 2x up to 8x which is applied to any win that the wild formed part of. If more than one wild lands, the multipliers are combined and applied to the winnings. The Scorching Spins feature can trigger randomly during the base game and when it does, the 1st and 5threels synchronise and all symbols change to the same random symbol, increasing your chances of hitting a win. You need to land at least 3 dragon scatters to activate the free spins. You’ll start with 8 free spins and any lower value symbols are removed, leaving higher values, wilds and scatters. Another 3 scatters will re-trigger the round. If this happens, you’ll unlock the bonus game where a bonus wheel will spin to reveal either a cash prize or a multiplier.
Verdict
This is a great looking slot with some really nice gameplay to match. The only drawbacks are the lower top prize and the lower RTP which may put players off.
