Unibet are currently trialling voice recognition technology in preparation for a voice-betting feature, which they hope will be available on the operator’s mobile sportsbook app.The voice betting function is built into the next version of the app, which is awaiting approval from Apple, and uses Kambi’s API and another third-party technology provider.
Voice Betting Feature
Once the feature is available, players will be able to place a wager using their phone’s built-in microphone when they tap the microphone icon on the app’s homepage. The technology uses a natural language component, which will enable it to better understand the customer’s request, but will ask for confirmation before placing a wager just in case there’s a mistake.
Simplify Betting
Unibet’s head of sportsbook Erik Bäcklund hopes that voice betting will simplify the betting process, making is easier and quicker than ever.“Unibet is constantly trying to enhance the experience around placing a bet and we are about to trial an exciting new feature that makes the process of placing a bet simpler and more intuitive,” Bäcklund told eGaming Review.“By enabling the customer to interact naturally, the app removes some of the frictions associated with traditional web and app interfaces, giving our customers the best possible experience.”The feature is limited to the English language at this time, however Bäcklund says Unibet plan to expand this is trials are successful.
