Scarlett Moffatt’s Mother Stole Daughter’s Money to Fund Gambling Addiction

Betty Moffatt rose to fame along with Husband Mark and Daughter Scarlett after appearing on the popular C4 show Gogglebox back in 2014. Scarlett Rose to fame after winning the I’m A Celebrity crown in 2016 and went on the present I’m A Celebrity Extra Camp alongside Ant and Dec and various other TV commitments.

Online Gambling Addiction

It has come to light Betty is receiving therapy for an online gambling addiction which happened after the boredom of lockdown. Scarlett discovered her mother Betty had gambled most of her own money and then began taking money from her Daughters bank account on the premise of paying it back after a big win, but this didn’t happen.A spokesperson said, “Of course she never did win the money back and the next thing she knew, Scarlett realised her account was missing tens of thousands and was horrified.“Initially she didn’t understand and obviously felt betrayed and confused but once Betty broke down and explained what had happened Scarlett couldn’t have been more supportive.”

Scarlett Lends Mum Support

Betty owns shares in her Daughter’s company Northern Unicorn Productions and had access to Scarlett’s accounts.Scarlett and her family are extremely close and Betty who Scarlett refers to as her ‘mamager’ has her Husband and Daughter’s full support as she battles with Gambling addiction.Scarlett arranged for her Mum to receive help with her addiction after doing lots of research on the devastating impact gambling can have on families. She hopes the story becoming public will help others in a similar situation reach out for help.After Scarlett became a popular face on UK TV, earnings from commercial deals enabled her to pay off her parent’s mortgage, she has since moved out of the family home and now lives with boyfriend Scott Dobinson in Bishop Auckland.
