The newest upcoming release from NetEnt, Hotline, now has a video trailer, and it shows a hefty change of direction in comparison to previous slots from the developer.Steeped in nostalgia, the slot has a Miami Vice feel to it and is, unsurprisingly, an homage to a host of 80s cop shows.
Design and theme
Cliched and cheesy imagery is usually not something we’d appreciate from a slot, but it’s not normally intentional, and it definitely is here. With five-reels and 30 paylines and playable from as little as 15p a spin on all compatible desktop, mobile, and tablet devices, Hotline holds nothing back in playing tribute to retro cop shows, with characters, fast cars (well, fast in the 80s) and neon signs galore.A Miami beach and skyline stands in the background, while a suitable soundtrack transports you a few decades back.
Gameplay
As is often the case with NetEnt, they’re holding a bit of information back, but the YouTube trailer tells us a lot about what to expect, and there’s some exciting features here. The Hotline Bonus Bet feature means you can play with up to three Hotlines, and if a wild symbol lands on one, it will expand and give you a respin, the respins will continue until no new wilds land on the reels.Expanding wilds are also a part of the Free Spins feature, and not only do they expand, but they lock in place for the duration of the feature so there are some big wins to be picked up here if you’re lucky. Not released until March 22nd (2018), we can safely assume that more information about Hotline will be forthcoming in the weeks to follow, but we’re already excited for the short of pure, cheesy nostalgia that it promises!https://youtu.be/P4LBUwQFzrs
