With the UKGC handing out an increasing number of fines in recent years to operators seen to be engaging in unethical practices, the importance of compliance in the iGaming industry has never been so high. One of the operators leading the charge when it comes to proving their heightened attitude towards compliance is LeoVegas, who have taken another big step forward with the creation of a new role within the company, Chief Compliance and Legal Officer (CCLO).
Recruitment
It is not known who the role will be given to on a full time yet, but recruitment is underway, with the successful candidate being given overall responsibility for ensuring that all compliance and legal affairs are handled, as well as “developing and managing the daily work within the area of responsibility”.While LeoVegas take the time to find the right person for the role on a long-term basis, attorney Anders Fast is handling the position in the interim.
Maturing industry
Speaking of the creation of the role, CEO of LeoVegas, Gustaf Hagman, said:“In a phase in which the industry is maturing and focus on compliance is rising, at the same time that our regulated revenue is growing sharply, the timing is now right to put a CCLO role in place.“I am very happy that Anders will take on the CCLO role until we have found the right person long term. Anders has served as a legal adviser to LeoVegas since the start and knows the industry inside and out, which gives him a head start.“Our focus on compliance is a prerequisite for us in our work on reaching our financial targets for 2020 and thereby achieving sustainable and long-term strong growth.”LeoVegas is said to be pursuing a Swedish license, something this added focus on compliance will definitely help with.
