Following the announcement this week that Paddy Power are to become the official shirt sponsor for Huddersfield Town FC, fans are far from happy with the new 2019/2020 kit, but is all as it seems?
‘Fake’
Terriers fans took to twitter over the kit, which features the Paddy Power logo slashed diagonally across the front of the shirt, with views that the shirt logo is fake!Sean Jarvis, Huddersfield Town’s Commercial Director spoke on the design,“ We’ve gone for a really modern twist on how we feature the famous Paddy Power logo. Paddy Power is very forward-thinking, innovative company- that’s one of the main reasons we’re so excited to work with them – the new ‘sash’ style logo is really eye-catching, and helps maintain our reputation as being innovators too.”Paddy Power responded,“ As a brand that embraces doing things differently, we didn’t want to get into shirt sponsorship just to do the same as everyone else. We feel the diagonal design will be the most distinctive sponsor logo in football league – appropriate for the most distinct sponsor there is. We’re sure Huddersfield fans will be delighted with this seasons kit.”
Publicity Stunt?
Fans are still in two minds whether the kit is authentic, with some raging the kit looks like something you would wear to a hen party, or a beauty pageant sash. Paddy Power are renowned for their pranks and publicity stunts and fans believe they will release the REAL kit later on, with a slightly smaller logo!Meanwhile, officials have stated the new kit will be worn in tonight’s game against Rochdale and for the rest of the season.
