State Gambling Restrictions
If you live in any US state, you can gamble if the state where you are located has a license, you are not allowed to bet across other states within the US that you are not located in.To enable sites to monitor sports bettors are playing from the correct state, they use Geolocation technology on their platforms, this technology blocks any players trying to gamble who are outside the boundaries of the state.
Changed Location
It seems one such player slipped through the net by using his browser code to change location, which appeared he was from New Jersey when in fact he was located in Nevada. Through a glitch in the system, which has now been rectified, the player was able to bet $29 on GIG’s platform, which resulted in the operator being fined $25,000.GIG are responsible for some of the biggest brands in the online casino and sports betting sector with the like of Guts Casino, Rizk, Thrills Casino, Kaboo, Betspin and SuperLenny, all of which are super successful. It seems quite a steep fine for the operator considering the bet placed was so small. The operator spoke of the incident calling it a “one off single incident”, that was brought about by technical problems. This incident was quickly rectified and the company was quick to point out that its services are always fully compliant with regulations.
