Arcade Spins Review
Nostalgia never gets old, we all love harking back to those fond memories of our past, and it is this love of all things retro and vintage that makes so many companies in a variety of different sectors look to capitalise on it in every possible way.
One market that has never been shy to take advantage of a trend is the online casino market, and Arcade Spins is an online casino that is certainly trying to make its success out of that love of all things old school.
Based in Gibraltar, Arcade Spins boasts licenses from both the Gibraltar and UK Gambling Commission, both these licenses are notoriously difficult to secure, and helps Arcade Spins feel immediately trustworthy, something that is useful for a new site.
If you are tempted by the welcome offer, as well as the promise of a nostalgia overload, then is Arcade Spins worthy of your time?
Design and theme
Arcade Spins had an idea, and it may well have been a good one, but the execution has not gone to plan in any way.
There is simply too much colour and pattern going on here, it distracts the eyes, makes navigation of the site confusing, essentially, it does the opposite of everything you want an online casino’s design to do.
As you scan down the page, you are met with different neon patterns, advertising promotions, offering direct access to popular games through thumbnails, and everything else you want a casino site to do. However, with a separate eye-wateringly bright background for every different section of the Arcade Spins site, it becomes too much very quickly, and it’s difficult to pay attention to the content because the background is screaming colours at you.
There’s nothing wrong with trying to bring a bold and bright colour scheme to the table, but there must be some level of intelligence to it. With Arcade Spins, it feels like they through colours at the design at random, and then just decided that would do and made the site around it. For the record, it won’t do.
Games
Arcade Spins has titles on offer from software providers including 888 Holdings, Bally Wulff, Blueprint Gaming, Eyecon, IGT, NetEnt, NextGen Gaming, NYX Gaming, PariPlay, SG Gaming, Thunderkick, and Williams Interactive, which is a decent enough list, but one with a few noticeable names missing (Microgaming, Playtech, Quickspin, Yggdrasil, just to name a few) which means that there are other sites with a better game selection, and many of them.
This is a shame, because the titles that Arcade Spins does have are strong, and as the list of software developers shows, come from high-profile names, it just doesn’t feel like quite enough to make up for the abysmal design concept.
Slots available here range from Fluffy Favourites and Starburst, to Fairytale Legends: Hansel & Gretel and Arcader (because, obviously, there’s a focus on slots with an arcade theme here) which is fine, but again, not enough.
Between the confusing navigation created by the overzealous design theme, to the slightly less than competitive selection of games on offer, Arcade Spins is pretty much a disappointment in every possible way, which is a shame, because nostalgia is fun, it just isn’t at this online casino.
