Midnite Championship expansion continues with Sheffield United renewal and Middlesbrough partnership

Midnite Championship expansion has continued after the sportsbook renewed its principal partnership with Sheffield United and signed a new front-of-shirt agreement with Middlesbrough ahead of the 2026/27 EFL Championship season.

Midnite is now the principal shirt sponsor of three Championship clubs. Earlier this year, the operator partnered with Wolverhampton Wanderers following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, giving the sportsbook a growing presence in one of Europe’s most popular football competitions.

Sheffield United partnership enters second season

Midnite became Sheffield United’s principal partner in June 2025. The new agreement extends the partnership into a second consecutive season.

Last season, Midnite launched the 2UP fan campaign. The promotion begins with a £10,000 prize fund, increasing by £1,000 for every home league fixture. If Sheffield United establish a two-goal lead at Bramall Lane, one supporter wins the accumulated prize.

The operator has confirmed the campaign will become part of its partnerships with Middlesbrough and Wolverhampton Wanderers, expanding one of its most recognisable supporter promotions.

Middlesbrough celebrates 150th anniversary

Midnite Championship Expansion now includes Middlesbrough as a principal partner for the new Championship campaign.

The agreement arrives during a landmark year for the club as it celebrates its 150th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Midnite has launched The Season’s On Us, giving supporters the chance to win season tickets, home and away shirts, hospitality tickets and £25 club shop vouchers.

Fans can enter through a series of club quizzes and football skill challenges throughout the season.

Championship continues to attract betting operators

The latest agreements underline the Championship’s commercial appeal to betting operators

Premier League clubs voluntarily removed gambling ads from front of shirts at the beginning of the 2026/27 season. The restriction does not apply to the English Football League, allowing operators to continue securing front-of-shirt sponsorships with Championship clubs.

The division continues to deliver significant commercial exposure. More than 21.5 million supporters attended Championship matches during the 2023/24 season, while average UK live television audiences increased by 51% to almost 333,000 viewers. The attendance and viewing figures reinforce the Championship’s commercial appeal for sportsbook operators

Midnite targets long-term football growth

With partnerships at Sheffield United, Middlesbrough and Wolverhampton Wanderers, Midnite has established a strong Championship presence ahead of the new season.

Commenting on the partnerships, Andrew Mook, Head of Brand Marketing at Midnite, said:

“The Championship is one of the most viewed football leagues in the world, with some iconic and historical names from English football competing in it.

“We are looking forward to being a part of the action by partnering with two of the league’s biggest clubs in what should be another thrilling season.”

Speaking about the individual agreements, Mook added:

“Middlesbrough are a club with a storied history, and we’re delighted to announce this partnership during such a monumental year with the club celebrating their 150th anniversary.

“We are also delighted to be Sheffield United’s principal partner for a second consecutive season after a really exciting first year. We’ll be looking to create even more memorable fan experiences in the upcoming season.”

The latest agreements underline Midnite’s continued investment in football sponsorship at a time when the Championship is becoming an increasingly valuable commercial platform for betting operators.
