Scout Gaming

If you are looking for the next significant market rise in the iGaming industry, then the chances are you don't have to look no further than Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS).

Already a massive deal in the US, with the likes of Draft Kings dominating the market, fantasy sports betting has seen a considerable rise in popularity worldwide that has been anything but gradual.

Capitalising on this opportunity to be a part of something that is on the verge of becoming huge, many operators are looking to provide DFS options for their customers. However, it isn’t as easy as that; help is necessary.

That help comes in the shape of a DFS provider who can create a fantasy sports option for an operator, and one of the names at the top of that list right now is Scout Gaming, who have signed several high-profile deals in recent months.

The Change at the Top

In late 2017, it became apparent that Scout Gaming was looking to evolve, and they did not take this job lightly, as the appointment of Johan Ohman showed.

Ohman, who was CEO of iGaming powerhouse NetEnt from 2006-2011, joined the company as their Director of Business, joined weeks later by another NetEnt alumni, Joakim Renman, who became Scout’s Commercial Director in late October (2017).

New Partnerships

The month after these two experienced iGaming professionals came on board, Scout signed the first of a string of significant deals.

A deal with Betsson to provide full access to Scout’s DFS platform to offer their Fantasy Sports product was a big one for Scout, mainly as Betsson Directors spoke very highly of the company when speaking about the deal.

Fast forward a month, and by December of 2018, Scout Gaming had struck their next agreement, offering their platform to Nordic Leisure in a deal similar to that with Betsson.

With CEO of Nordic Leisure, Peter Astrom, saying Scout Gaming had “finally found a product that meets [sic] our quality requirements”, it was clear that Scout’s star was rising.

By this point, Scout Gaming had the largest liquidity network in Europe, with Betsson and Nordic Leisure joining names such as Bethard, Fanteam, Gofantasy, and PAF.

The list wasn’t stopping there, though, and in March of 2018, two new deals were struck in quick succession, with ComeOn and British Starpick Ltd joining the Scout Gaming network.

The Future

A vast network is a massive selling point, implying trust and respect, which Scout Gaming has done a fine job of gaining so far.

Therefore, we can expect many more news stories throughout 2018 to announce that Scout Gaming has partnered up with more operators looking to get themselves a piece of the DFS market as it starts on what looks to become a meteoric rise in the near future.

Scout isn’t the only company in this industry. Of course, competition is fierce, but at this point, Scout looks to be in a good position.

Co-founder & Technical Director at Play Cash Games

Matthew Kennedy co-founded Take Marketing Limited in 2008 alongside Becky Mosley and has worked in the UK online gambling industry ever since. He runs the technical side of the operation, building and maintaining the platforms that power Play Cash Games and the wider Take Marketing portfolio.

Matt's role is hands-on. He writes the code behind the offer feeds, the comparison tools readers use, and the back-office systems that keep every casino listing accurate and current. If you have used a feature on this site, the chances are he built it. He is also responsible for site performance, mobile usability, and the technical SEO that lets a small independent comparison site compete with much larger publishers.

Over 17 years in the industry, Matt has worked directly with affiliate platforms, casino operators, and software providers. He has seen the market move from desktop Flash slots to mobile-first HTML5, lived through every iteration of UK Gambling Commission rules, and built the systems that keep our coverage compliant as regulation evolves. He has a particular interest in responsible gambling tooling and player-fund safety — the parts of the industry most people do not see but that matter most.

Matt is a Companies House registered director (Take Marketing Limited, company no. 07619813) and is based in Lincolnshire, England.
