Playtech return to Ancient Egypt with their new slot release, Pyramid Valley Power Zones, the 3rd slot in their Power Zone series. Features include transforming symbols, split symbols, free spins and more.

Slot details

This is a high variance slot with 6 reels and up to 15,625 ways to win. It is playable across all devices from 10p up to a massive £300 per spin and has an RTP set at 95.36%.The game is set in the scorching Valley of the Kings, amidst the sand dunes, pyramids and palm trees with an orchestral soundtrack.Symbols are 9 to Ace royals, hieroglyphs, the Eye of Horus and the scarab beetle. The latter 2 are the most lucrative. The red and gold wild symbol can substitute all others barring the gold pyramid scatter.

Gameplay

If any symbol lands on the reels surrounded by flames, it will activate the Power Zones feature. The scarab symbol is in play and moves to an adjoining position on each spin, expanding the Power Zone as it moves. This can occur up to a maximum of 6 times or until the symbol disappears from view.Any charged symbol landing next to a Power Zone will also expand the zone. If a charged symbol appears inside the Zone, all symbols in the zone transform into one matching symbol.Any scarab symbol can randomly trigger the Scarab Strike and then will split into 2 scarabs which starts making new Power Zones.Landing 3, 4, 5 or 6 scatter symbols awards 10, 15, 20 or 30 free spins respectively, and these scatters create Power Zones with only one of them activating an expanding zone. This feature can be retriggered with no limits on the amount of free spins you can win.The Mega Spin is the last spin in the feature, and all symbols in the zones will transform into matching symbols to increase your winnings.

Verdict

This game has a lower RTP than the other Power Zone slots which does seem to be a step backwards. The maximum payout of x5,000 your wager is also a lot lower than I expected and would put a lot of players off. This is a shame as the actual gameplay and design is great.
