Unibet have started an initiative to improve and increase the security of their sites Unibet and MariaCasino, by introducing electronic authentication system, BankID.The BankID system, which is designed to create a more efficient and secure payment process, is currently being utilised only on Unibet brands that are hosted in Sweden, but if this trial is successful, it will be expected to be rolled out across the other territories soon.
Safe and secure
Daniel Gambin, the head of player safety at Unibet, stated that for players to be happy, a “safe and secure environment” must be created, adding:“BankID is the most widely used e-id system in Sweden, managed by the major banks. With this system in place our customers will experience a seamless and familiar login process, using the highest security measures the market has to offer.”Adding that although players currently need to make a choice to sign in to gain the benefits of the service, the “functionality gives us the opportunity to also use it across various customer journeys to further improve the security and user experience.”
Efficiency as well as security
Although the BankID system is very useful for safety and security, it is not the only benefit that comes from using the system.By introducing a standardised manner for the processing and verification of payments, BankID also providers a user-friendly, simply to use service that is likely to prove popular amongst Unibet players. As the first online gambling operator to make use of the BankID technology, Unibet is operating as something of a guinea pig, but if the system is received with the levels of satisfaction that Unibet clearly expect, then not only will the system start being used at Unibet casinos outside Sweden, you can expect other operators to take note as well.
