Unibet is a site that has been living up to its name for a long time now, a one-stop shop for all your betting needs, the site offers sports betting, casino play, bingo, and video poker in abundance.
However, for a while, there was one aspect of iGaming which was very much missing from the options available at Unibet, lottery play.
Lottery betting is slightly different from usual lottery play, as you are not actually buying a ticket for the lottery, instead you are betting on its outcome. The prizes are still the same, you are merely making a bet at a site instead of putting money towards the lottery itself.
This easy way of betting has become immensely popular due partly to its ease of use, you don’t have to go anywhere to buy a lottery ticket, but there’s another reason too.
Unlike lottery play, where you can only play the games in the jurisdiction you are in, lottery betting allows you to play lotteries from all around the world, so whether you pick your favourite based on ticket price, jackpot size, of chance of winning, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Design and theme
Unibet has a definite sense of branding by this point, and it would not have been the most sensible decision for the lottery betting part of their gaming site deviated from that. It doesn’t, of course.
The green and white colour scheme with the wonky Unibet logo is here, and the banner across the top of the screen feels on brand as well, although it makes it very clear that lottery betting is considered a different entity, and isn’t only tacked on to make a bit more money from players.
As you scroll past the banner, the rest of the design here is incredibly simple, you have a white background, and the available lotteries are listed in front of it, allowing instant, one-click access to your chosen game.
There could be more going on here in terms of artwork and design touches, but it doesn’t feel necessary. Lottery play has always been the subtler cousin of online casino and sports betting play, and the Unibet Lottery Betting site shows that well.
It is surprising how many lotteries there are around the world, and Unibet gives you access to pretty much all of them.
At the time of writing, there are three jackpots that are huge, the Euromillions (£154 million at the time of writing), US Megamillions (£147 million) and US Powerball (£194 million) and these three are usually amongst the highest jackpots available.
Lotto from the UK regularly offers multi-million pound prizes, while the El Gordo lottery in Spain doesn’t only have regular high jackpots, they also have a Christmas game at the end of the year with a £2.1 billion prize pool.
The Irish, Polish and French Lottos tend to have lower jackpots, but slightly higher chances of winning, while Cash4Life, which offers £1,000 a day to the winner, gives an alternative take on the lottery concept.
Unibet has a lot to offer players, with the casino having slots and table games from some of the best software developers around, and sports betting options allowing you to bet on your favourite sports events, but there is no denying that the Lottery betting option is a welcome addition to the portfolio.
