Smashing Casino Review
It is understandable that with a name like Smashing Casino, you may be expecting a site that is as British as tea and crumpets. However, despite the popularity of sites with Great Britain as their theme, Smashing Casino goes an even more popular route with its concept, superheroes.
We undoubtedly live in the age of superheroes with the immense popularity of the Marvel movies and the DC films (although this popularity is arguably less so for the latter) as well as a host of videogames, television shows, and an endless stream of merchandise.
It never takes the online casino world too long to catch on with a trend, and even with Playtech losing the rights to the Marvel franchise in early 2016, superheroes have been a constant presence in the iGaming world, and that looks set to continue.
Smashing Casino, therefore, has quite a battle on its hands, because not only does this site, which was launched in 2017, have to fight to succeed in an incredibly competitive industry, it also has an array of direct rival sites which utilise a similar theme.
Design and theme
To say that Smashing Casino looks bad would be entirely unfair, it’s an attractive enough site, the problem is, it looks exactly like one would expect it to, and that isn’t really going to cut it.
The blue and yellow colour scheme, the comic book style artwork, and the predictable superhero characters including the female superhero with an unnecessary amount of cleavage on show combine to make the design here feel dated, and not in a vintage, retro fashion, more in a “we’ve seen this before countless times” kind of way.
The bold colours and design touches will probably appeal to some, as stated, this is a good-looking site all things considered, but the likelihood is that you have already experienced other online casino sites that do the same thing better, so Smashing Casino has nothing unique about it, in terms of appearance, which will make it tough for this online casino to stand out from the pack.
Navigation is simple here, and that helps to an extent, but it isn’t even close to enough to make up for the derivative, and frankly boring design concept at Smashing Casino.
If you were hoping that the Games section of this review would be the point that Smashing Casino redeemed itself and proved it could be a genuinely competitive online casino, then there is nothing but further disappointment for you here.
Games from BetSoft, GameART, and GameScale does ensure that there are some excellent games here, and a few that you are less likely to find at other sites, but there is simply not enough choice of games at Smashing Casino, by some distance.
The online casinos that enjoy the most success in the modern era are those which offer games from a veritable smorgasbord of software developers, not three, and certainly not three which (with all due respect to the top-quality developers in question) wouldn’t appear in the top five of most experience online casino players.
You’ll find video slots, classic slots, micro bet games, action games, table and card games, and video poker here, so there is at least decent variety in terms of game category, but when none of these categories contain enough games, the excitement about that wears off pretty quickly.
Smashing Casino has a lot of work to do if it intends to become competitive, but it doesn’t feel like anyone behind this site can be bothered.
